Drummond Company, Inc.

Additional Details

Drummond Company, Inc. is a privately owned company based in Birmingham, Alabama, United States, involved in the mining and processing of coal and coal products as well as oil and real estate. In the most recent UN report titled ‘From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide’ by the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, the UN has unveiled the corporate machinery sustaining Israel. In the context of energy production, the report highlights the connection with Glencore, which supplies coal from Colombia, extracted from mines including El Cerrejón in La Guajira. The report reads: "Coal for electricity to Israel originates primarily from Colombia (60 per cent of Israeli coal imports in 2023-24); United States-headquartered Drummond Company, Inc. and the Swiss-based Glencore PLC are the primary suppliers. Their respective subsidiaries own the mines and the three ports involved in the delivery of 15 coal shipments to Israel since October 2023, including six shipments after Colombia suspended coal exports to Israel in August 2024. Glencore was also involved in shipments from South Africa; these shipments accounted for 15 per cent of Israeli coal imports in 2023 and 2024."
