Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington. The company became influential in the rise of personal computers through software like Windows and has since expanded into areas such as Internet services, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and more. Over the years, Microsoft has provided substantial support to the Israeli government and military, including cloud computing and artificial intelligence services. During the war in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military's Unit 8200 reportedly used Microsoft's Azure cloud platform to run a large-scale system for collecting and analyzing the contents of millions of Palestinians' phone calls. Microsoft acknowledged that it provides the Israel Ministry of Defense with "software, professional services, Azure cloud services, and Azure AI services, including language translation," as well as working with the Israeli government to protect its "national cyberspace against external threats." In 2025, Microsoft was included in a report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) listing companies associated with activities in the occupied territories.
