Maersk

Additional Details

Maersk is a publicly traded Danish shipping and logistics company that provides logistics services, ocean and inland transport, and air freight services in nearly 130 countries. The company provides the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) with maritime transport services for security cargo purchased with U.S. aid funds from the United States. Maersk is the primary company operating regular shipping lines between the United States and Israel using vessels flying the U.S. flag. Under U.S. law, security equipment purchased through U.S. foreign aid must generally be transported on U.S.-flagged vessels. On June 8, 2026, the Palestinian Youth Movement’s Mask off Maersk campaign published a report in collaboration with Oxfam Denmark, alleging that Maersk has continued to transport military-related cargo to Israel despite the company's public statements to the contrary. According to the report, these shipments included components such as "parts for bullets, bombs, mortars, and projectile bodies" utilized in military operations in Gaza and Lebanon. While Maersk has previously maintained that it enforces a strict policy against shipping weapons or ammunition to active conflict zones, the report references shipping records and bills of lading from October 2023 through 2025 alleging that weapon components from U.S. suppliers were routed to defense facilities in Israel, including those operated by Elbit Systems. The authors state that these documentation chains indicate Maersk has effectively "facilitated a direct industrial pipeline from the United States to Israel." The compiled data points to a specific logistics chain wherein goods from U.S. Air Force Plant 4 in Fort Worth were transported to the Port of Haifa in Israel aboard two Maersk container ships between April 5, 2025, and May 1, 2025, before a separate ground courier transported them to the Nevatim air base. Air Force Plant 4 is a U.S. government-owned facility operated by Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor for the international F-35 fighter jet program. The facility serves as a primary assembly hub for F-35 jets and components distributed to international program partners, including Israel. Nevatim air base houses Israel’s squadrons of F-35 fighter aircraft, which human rights groups note have been heavily deployed in regional airstrikes, including a devastating 2,000 lb bomb strike on the designated safe zone of Al-Mawasi in Gaza that resulted in 90 casualties. In official policy statements, the company maintains that its U.S.-flagged subsidiary, Maersk Line Limited (MLL), provides essential vendor-to-vendor transport services supporting the global F-35 supply chain for multiple international coalition partners. While confirming its role in transporting components like F-35 wings—which are manufactured globally—the company emphasizes that it enforces strict cargo review, acceptance, and screening procedures to remain fully compliant with international frameworks and U.S. government transportation requirements. -- Listed on CPH (MAERSK B), Maersk is backed by leading sovereign wealth funds, most notably NBIM.
