Shufersal Ltd. is Israel’s largest supermarket and retail chain. Established in 1958, the company operates hundreds of retail outlets and the “Be” pharmacy network, holding a dominant share of Israel’s food and consumer goods market. Its shares are publicly traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Despite its prominent commercial position, Shufersal has been identified by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) as one of the companies involved in activities that support and sustain Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory. The company was included in the UN database established pursuant to Resolution 31/36, which documents businesses linked to settlement-related activities in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Golan Heights. Its inclusion has been reaffirmed in subsequent updates of the database, including those issued in 2023 and 2025. Shufersal runs major retail branches and distribution facilities located within Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, including the “Yesh Chesed” chain, which primarily serves religious settler communities. Through its supermarkets and digital platforms, the company distributes and sells products manufactured in settlements and industrial zones established in occupied territory.
