Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) is an Indian aerospace, military engineering and defense technology company. It is a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Sons . In 2008, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the Indian conglomerate Tata Group signed an agreement to cooperate on the development, manufacturing, marketing, and support of defense products in India. The cooperation agreement between the state-owned IAI and Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) covers a range of defense and aerospace products, including missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), radars, electronic warfare systems, and homeland security systems, IAI said in a statement. From 2019 to 2023, India was Israel’s largest defense client, accounting for 37 percent of Israel’s defense exports. Since 2006, India has reduced its dependence on Russian military imports while increasing imports from Western suppliers, including France, Israel, and the United States. Between 2023 and 2024, Israel was India’s third-largest defense equipment supplier, contributing 13 percent of India’s total defense imports—more than double its share from two decades earlier.
