Dynamit Nobel AG was a prominent German chemical and weapons company originally founded in 1865 by Alfred Nobel. While the historic corporation's assets were eventually split and reorganized, its military lineage continues today through Dynamit Nobel Defence, a German subsidiary of Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. A key product closely associated with this manufacturing legacy is the MATADOR shoulder-fired rocket launcher, known technically in Germany as the RGW 90 (Recoilless Grenade Weapon). Originally co-developed as a joint project involving Germany, Israel, and Singapore, the system is designed with a unique counter-mass mechanism that minimizes backblast, making it a preferred option for infantry and engineering forces operating in tightly confined urban environments. The Israeli military has utilized variants of the RGW 90 across its major military campaigns over the past two decades. Its combat deployment began during the 2008 war and has continued through the Gaza genocide. Operational documentation shows that the weapon is used on a daily basis by ground forces to destroy fortified positions, breach structures, and target buildings.
