Additional Details
Elbit Systems Ltd. is Israel’s largest defense electronics manufacturer and ranks among the top 30 largest defense contractors globally. Headquartered in Haifa, the company's portfolio encompasses advanced munitions, land combat vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare systems, cybersecurity technologies, and advanced surveillance platforms. The corporation previously operated a significant cybersecurity subsidiary, Cyberbit, which was established following Elbit’s acquisition of the cyber and intelligence division of NICE Systems, an Israeli communications surveillance provider. Following a major investment in 2020, Elbit Systems officially finalized the divestment of its remaining shares in Cyberbit to Charlesbank Capital Partners in 2023. Elbit became Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer in 2018 following its acquisition of the state-owned Israel Military Industries (now IMI Systems). The company supplies the Israeli military with a wide array of equipment, including missiles, precision-guided bombs, artillery systems, ammunition, 155mm shells, and reconnaissance drones—such as the Skylark, Hermes 450, and Hermes 900 series. Elbit technologies, including its Torch-X command-and-control network, electronic warfare (EW) suites, cockpit displays, and warning systems, are integrated into the Israeli military’s main fighter aircraft, main battle tanks, and naval warships. The Israeli military uses Elbit MPR 500 multi-purpose bombs in its attacks on Gaza, including in its 2023–2024 genocidal attacks. Designed for use in “densely populated urban warfare,” these bombs contain 26,000 controlled fragments for “high kill probability.” Elbit has stated that these 500-pound bombs are as powerful as U.S.-made, 2,000-pound MK-84 bombs. These weapons can be converted into guided bombs using, for example, the Boeing Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM). Human rights organizations and international observers have documented the extensive use of these weapons systems during major military offensives in the Gaza Strip and surrounding regions, noting their role in operations that have resulted in civilian casualties and severe damage to infrastructure, including residential areas, medical facilities, schools, and utility networks. Beyond aviation and munitions, Elbit Systems is a primary provider of land-based border security technology. The company designs and manufactures thermal imaging cameras, radar systems, and electronic sensors specifically engineered for security fences and barrier infrastructure. This includes providing the electronic surveillance systems and "smart fencing" for the West Bank barrier, a structure declared illegal by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in its 2004 advisory opinion. Additionally, Elbit provides continuous, 24/7 surveillance networks utilized along checkpoints and border zones to monitor and regulate Palestinian movement. -- Listed on NASDAQ/TASE (ESLT).
