Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC , is an American firearms manufacturer, founded in 1855 by Samuel Colt that has become a subsidiary of Czech holding company Colt CZ Group. Colt assault rifles are the standard individual weapon for Israeli infantry and special forces to cover the increased consumption in wars. The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has awarded Colt consecutive contracts to produce and export thousands of M4A1 rifles and silencers to Israel under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) framework. Deliveries and outfitting under these contracts continue until mid-2026. The name of Colt rifles has been directly linked to the intensive arming plan led by the Israeli Ministry of National Security (under the administration of Itamar Ben-Gvir) to equip settlers and urban militias. The Israeli government purchased thousands of automatic rifles from Colt to distribute them to the so-called 'rapid response teams' in settlements and border towns, which contributed to the escalation of settler attacks and repressive operations against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank.
