Bisalloy Steels Group

Additional Details

Bisalloy Steel Group Limited is Australia's only manufacturer of high-tensile and abrasion-resistant quenched and tempered (Q&T) steel plate and supplies specialty steel for the mining, construction, and defense industries. Bisalloy maintains a supply partnership with the Israeli company Plasan Re'em, which specializes in vehicle armoring. BISALLOY Armor steel is used to convert civilian four-wheel-drive vehicles (such as Toyota trucks) into armored and camouflaged military vehicles used by the (IOF) special forces units in ground operations and raids. These plates enable the vehicles to resist shrapnel, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and grenades without excessively increasing the vehicle's weight. The company supplies hundreds of tons of specialized steel to Rafael Advanced Defense Systems (owned by the Israeli government) under long-term contracts. This steel is integrated as a core component in add-on and modular armor systems installed over the main hulls of Israeli armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers (APCs) to elevate their protection levels against anti-armor projectiles. Plasan is the primary developer of the SandCat Tigris light armored vehicles, dozens of which were delivered to the IOF during recent ground operations. The ballistic armoring and mine-resistant hulls of these vehicles rely on heat-treated steel, an area where Bisalloy excels as the sole manufacturer of this type in Australia. -- Listed on ASX (BIS)
